Keyholders in Attendance:  Melissa Applegate, Harry and Josephine Delaney, Kingsley Guy, LuAnn Heald, Margaret Lee, Sandi Segal, special guests Kitty Margolis, Marcia Tipley

Participants were welcomed by Tour Facilitator, Melissa Applegate, and those who were unable to attend were remembered (Jack and Mary Dodge who were vacationing in Thailand and Rebecca Fitzgerald who lives out of state). Kitty Margolis and Marcia Tipley, Keyholders from the Egypt tour of May of 1999, were introduced.  They shared fond memories of their journey to Egypt as well as offered tips for staying healthy (i.e., "Don't drink the water even if it says it's purified" [including tap water, ice cubes, coffee, tea, soup, lettuce, uncooked fruits and vegetables, etc.; "Bring snacks"; and "Laugh a lot").  Bottled water sold at the hotels where we'll be staying and on the cruise ship is perfectly safe to drink.  Bottled water sold on the street is risky.  Melissa mentioned that traditional Chinese herbs called "curing pills" may also be taken prior to and during travel to lessen the chances of "Tutankhamon's Revenge" (gastrointestinal problems associated with drinking the water).  These "curing pills" were made available to the '99 group and virtually no one had problems.  Every attempt will be made to secure the herbs through a local acupuncturist or an Asian pharmacist to offer to those participants who wish to have them.

General information regarding passports, visas, and payment schedule were announced (see Reminders).  It was also mentioned that Naim Nawas was in Peru with a group and unavailable until month's end.

Melissa advised the group that the process of Initiation is apparently already beginning within our group.  This is something that happens to all individuals and groups who enter the sacred sites of ancient Egypt whether they believe in it and whether they're consciously aware of it or not.  The architectural design of the temples and the information band contained within them provoke spontaneous realignment.  People who are sensitive or intuitive often respond prior to physical interaction with the sites (which is apparently the case with certain members of our present group).  How this affects each one of us is unique to that individual based upon the balance of that individual's body and mind and certain karmic predispositions.  The impact evokes heightened awareness and emotional and physiological changes that may be self-interpreted as "good" or "bad."  Melissa indicated that this is an ideal time (prior to our journey) to consciously make positive changes and adjustments in whatever areas are needed; otherwise, the initiatic process may "shake things up" and changes may be forced upon us in a rather unexpected and dramatic fashion.

Generally speaking, this Initiatic process occurs in a systematic manner paralleling the sequential alignment of chakras within the human body.  As the initiation unfolds, each chakra accelerates and attunes to the high vibrational frequency of specific ancient Egyptian temples.  At the onset, the 1st chakra, the Root Chakra, spins more rapidly and core issues of self-survival, trust and creature comforts arise.  If this chakra is well attuned, you may feel very "rooted", secure and comfortable with yourself, your habits, your immediate environment and the world around you and have trust that all your needs are and will be provided for.  If this chakra is in need of attunement,  feelings of fear, worry and insecurity regarding one's health and well-being, the health and well-being of others, job, finances, political unrest, and other matters may arise.  Very often issues regarding the comfort and beauty of one's dwelling (home or hotel room), food and menu items, and other creature comforts take on exaggerated importance as this chakra is realigned.  Major realignment may result in a dramatic change of location in home or job, a need for medical attention, or a change of attitude in regard to what one really needs to "survive" and be "comfortable" in life.

The 2nd chakra, the Sacral Chakra, accelerates next -- resulting in creativity and re-definition of relationships. Unresolved issues between you and loved one(s) may come to the forefront to be realigned and settled as this chakra accelerates.  It is not uncommon to see stale relationships fail, sexual attractions and new relationships come into play, or relationships that have undergone trials strengthen and realign during this time.  When this chakra is in proper balance, relationships (with partner, children, family, friends, co-workers, et al) will flourish.  In addition, new projects are frequently birthed; creativity, the arts, and other new ventures and business partnerships may be contemplated and/or launched.  The feminine principle is heightened in both males and females resulting in better nurturance of self, others, and an attention to beauty and personal health habits.

Personal identity, recognition, independence, freedom and power concerns arise as the 3rd chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, accelerates.  Self-discipline, self-esteem, personal energy, and matters relating to identity (ego) and control are associated with this chakra .  Success, stature, pecking order, and personal acknowledgement become prioritized.  Feelings of fatigue or weakness in body or will may indicate realignment of this chakra.

As the tour group facilitator, I'm always relieved when the lower chakras realign and the Heart Chakra activates.  From this point forward, it's "smooth sailing".  Generally, only the more positive aspects of these chakras manifest whereas the lower chakras have dualistic (negative and positive) tendencies.  The Heart Chakra serves as a bridge between the lower and higher chakras on a microcosmic level and between heaven and earth on a macrocosmic level.   As this center accelerates, unconditional Love freely emanates. The heart gently opens like a many-petaled lotus bloom to generate Love * Love * Love with each and every heart beat.  How little or how much Love depends on various factors; however, the daily recitation of the Keyholders' Mantra invokes Isis (Love) and evokes infinite potential.  The "serpent energy" of kundalini rises from the base of the spine while pranic energy simultaneously descends from the crown chakra, forming a "py-ra-mid" (sacred "fire-in-the-middle" also known as the eternal violet flame).

Expression, communication and manifestation of prayers and goals arise as the Throat Chakra accelerates.  The vocal cords become an instrument of harmony and love, to express purity of thought though the divine Word.  Messages from the heavenly realms are readily and clearly "heard".  Do you have a book to write, a class to teach, a song to sing, or long suppressed ideas and thoughts to communicate?  Now is the time!

Clear vision, insight, inspiration and wisdom are intuited as the Brow Chakra accelerates.  The ability to see into the past and the future expands.  The "Eye of Horus" and "Eye of Ra" [yin and yang aspects of the "Third Eye"] awaken to receive and transmit visual sensory data beyond the physical sense of sight.

As the Crown Chakra accelerates, it radiates illumination and enlightenment and the capacity "to know".

Melissa explained that Initiation serves as a tool, in both ancient and modern times, to transform a substance from one form to another (i.e., base metal into gold or the undeveloped initiate into an illumined being).  This process of transformation is known as Alchemy and was practiced by the high priests and rulers of ancient Egypt.  In order to perform Alchemy on inanimate or animate matter, the alchemist requires 3 things:

INANIMATE

ANIMATE

Container

Body

Substance to be Transformed

Mind

Force that Transforms

Chi (Low Alchemy); Love (High Alchemy)

Specifically, the high priests were devoted to developing the body and mind of the Initiate to the highest level of self-mastery.  This was especially important for the Pharaoh who wished to rule as long as (s)he was healthy and able and whose decisions directly affected the welfare of the people (s)he ruled.  The priests, in turn, advised and protected the Pharaoh and his/her interests.  Some high priests gained such complete mastery that they could control processes of life and death.  Although this may seem far-fetched, similar practices are commonplace in Tibetan monasteries of today.  The high lamas train to dematerialize the physical dense body through a type of meditative, focused mind resulting in a flash of rainbow light, rather than succumb to death or illness.  They are also able to materialize a form body and have the ability to "come and go" at will.  The ancient Egyptian "Book of Coming Forth By Day" describes this practice of "coming and going" at will through symbolism and allegory of the afterlife.  It was subsequently misinterpreted as the "Book of the Dead."

Yogic practices were routinely utilized by the ancient Egyptians to cultivate techniques of Low and High Alchemy.  In order to do so, various components of the body were purified, strengthened and activated.

In Low Alchemy, the khat (physical dense body) and ka (personality or ego) are activated for purposes of astral projection while living and post-death through recitation of the ka's secret names.  The ka can survive death but cannot sustain itself and ultimately dissolves unless someone brings it back to life through cohered thought or recitation of its secret names.  This process was utilized on inanimate objects (statues, oracles and ushabis) to give them short-term "life-like" appearance.  For example, a magician/ alchemist might turn a staff into a cobra, metal into gold, or transform water into wine.  Ushabis were inbued with chi to perform menial services on behalf of a magician or the deceased.  These acts are primarily effected through cultivation of an energetic life force called chiTo the true Alchemist, these acts pertain to the realm of phenomena and are not highly regarded other than as a stepping stone to the practice of High Alchemy.

As a caution, it should be noted that as the Initiate develops in the practice of Low Alchemy, desires become instantaneously manifest.  This is referred to as the "Dangerous Passage" and is considered unsafe until you surrender the "dead-end" aspects of yourself (symbolized by the dead-end passageway in the Subterranean Chamber of the Great Pyramid).  Everything in your subconscious manifests including all your fears unless you purify!!  (This is one of the primary reasons each participant is encouraged to recite the Keyholders' Mantra!).

In High Alchemy, the khat must be thoroughly grounded and strong in order to withstand the charge of force(s) flowing through it (kundalini, chi and Love); the ka must be unified with the khu ("higher self") through purification and balance (ma'at) of the lower and higher aspects of the heart, known as the hati and ab respectively.  As this is achieved, the immortal body -- the Sahu -- is generated.   Masters like Sai Baba, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and many Tibetan and Hindu masters have been known to "appear" in more than one location simultaneously to give teachings, inspiration, and healing through processes of High Alchemy.  High Alchemy is effected through Love and brings benefit to those who witness it.

It was noted that at the time of the Keyholders' meeting, it was 70 degrees in Cairo and 82 degrees in Aswan.

The meeting convened in order to eat, drink, and be merry!  The next Keyholders' Meeting is tentatively scheduled for early February.
