TEMPLE OF RAMSES II (INTERIOR) - HOLY OF HOLIES
The sanctuary in which a shaft of light would shine twice a year on Feburary and October 22, illuminating three of the four seated figures: Amon-Ra, the deified Ramses II, and Ra-Horachty. The fourth figure, Ptah, symbolized the dark void out of which all life sprung, and was intentionally not illuminated. Left to right: Ptah, Amon-Ra, Ramses II, Ra-Horachty. |
